The 2023 edition of the Tri-Colour Classic at Queen's University was nothing short of historic, shattering expectations and setting new benchmarks for community-driven philanthropy. Building on the foundation laid by Hunter MacKinnon's visionary initiative, the event galvanized the faculties of Engineering and Commerce, turning their friendly rivalry into a powerful force for good. The game itself was a thrilling display of talent, sportsmanship, and camaraderie, but the true victory lay in the remarkable achievement of raising $185,000 with over 4,000 fans in attendance. 2024 event recap

The Tri-Colour Classic Commerce vs. Engineering Rivalry Basketball Game 2024 was truly a night to remember… Thanks to the unwavering support of our sponsors, fans, and community, we raised an astounding $250,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society and Dr. Donald Mabbott’s Research Lab at Sick Kids Toronto. This milestone directly supports groundbreaking research into pediatric brain cancer and brings us closer to a brighter future for countless children and families. To everyone who showed up — whether you cheered from the stands, sat courtside, sponsored the event, or simply believed in the power of what we could achieve together — thank you. For the first time, Team Commerce claimed victory in a thrilling game, with Nathan Onasanya earning MVP honours. We also celebrated Andreas Berganza as this year’s MIP (Most Impactful Player), an award given in memory of Kathryn Stewart, a Queen’s student who tragically passed from neuroblastoma in 2022. It’s hard to believe this is only our third year! What we’ve accomplished in such a short time is nothing short of extraordinary, and we’re just getting started. Let’s keep fighting, keep believing, and keep making a difference.
