Neuroblastoma, a form of childhood cancer, unfortunately struck the Stewart family from Georgetown, Ontario. The night before, Kathryn was riding her bike, smiling ear-to-ear, and out of nowhere her life changed forever.
Yet, she didn’t let her diagnosis get in the way of her battle, and most importantly, who she was. Kathryn Stewart was recognized by many around her as one of the strongest, smartest, faithful, and determined individuals. Up until her passing on April 2, 2022, she exemplified in her fundraiser, Kathryn’s Krop 4 A Kure, that is still up today that is run by her parents Heather and Greg Stewart, and her admission into Queen’s University’s with the mission to receive her psychology degree.
Kathryn always sought out to raise awareness and money for the underfunded cause of childhood cancer, that goal of hers meant more than the battle she faced with the disease itself. Although one of her biggest fears before her passing was that she would be forgotten, her family, friends, and now the Tri-Colour Classic will now ensure that her life and memory will live on and represent the beautiful 19 years she lived. Andreas Berganza-Kovacevic (Engineering, 2026) was awarded the Most Impactful Player Award at the 2024 Rivarly Game, in honour of Kathryn Stewart, for being the top individual fundraiser.
